The 2006 NFL season may be the year in which Jacksonville Jaguars tickets come into their own. The Jags finished 2005 at 12 and 4 so they were already solid. With Byron Leftwich at quarterback, one of the most promising young quarterbacks in the NFL, Jacksonville was only in need of a little tweaking to continue their upward mobility. Tweak they did, picking up Marcedes Lewis to fill the need at tight end and give Leftwich more targets. Lewis, at 66 and 260 lbs, is a big target that can catch the ball over the middle and provide assistance to the running game. Defensively the Jaguars beefed up their linebackers with Clint Ingram, a 245 lb Sooner with good sideline to sideline speed. Needing a pass rusher, Jacksonville took two defensive linemen with potential in Brent Hawkins of Illinois State and James Wyche of Syracuse. Can Jacksonville take on the Colts and win the AFC South. Get your Jacksonville Jaguars tickets and see how it turns out.

A brief history of the Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars joined the NFL in 1995 as an expansion team. The Jaguars were owned by Wayne Weaver and they played their home games in the newly renovated Gator Bowl (ALL TEL Stadium) which seats over 67,000 football fans. The Jaguars first head coach was former Boston College head coach Tom Coughlin.

The Jacksonville Jaguars finished their inaugural 1995 season with a 4-12 record. In only their second season of existence, the Jaguars began a string of four straight playoff appearances. The Jaguars finished the 1996 season by winning 6 of the final 7 games. With a record of 9-7, the Jaguars secured the final spot in the AFC playoffs. The Jaguars won their first playoff game 30-27 over the Buffalo Bills. The next week, the Jaguars upset the Denver Broncos at Mile High Stadium 30-27. The Jaguars lost the AFC Championship game to the New England Patriots 20-6 but they had gone farther than any previous expansion team had in only their second season.

The Jaguars won their first AFC Central division title in 1998 and again 1999 but lost each time in the playoffs. The Jaguars reached the AFC Championship game in1999 after a franchise record 14-2 regular season record. The Jaguars beat the intra-state rival Miami Dolphins 62-7 in the first round of the playoffs but lost at home to the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Championship game 33-14.

The Jacksonville Jaguars early wave of success ended after the 1999 season as the Jaguars fell back to earth. The Jaguars failed to produce a winning season from 2000 - 2004. Head Coach Tom Caughlin was replaced by the Carolina Panthers LB Coach, Jack Del Rio in 2003. Del Rio remains the Jaguars head coach today.

Del Rio and the Jaguars struggled in 2003 with a 5-11 record, their worst record since their inaugural season in 1995. Known as a player's coach, Del Rio is quietly building a dominant team. The Jaguars selected QB Byron Leftwich in the first round of the 2003 NFL draft to lead the Jaguars into the future.

In their tenth year in the league, the Jacksonville Jaguars improved their record to 9-7 in 2004. The 2004 season marked the fifth season in a row that the Jaguars failed to reach the playoffs but it was the first winning season in four years.

All the pieces started to fall in place as the Jacksonville Jaguars improved their record to 12-4 in the 2005 season. The Jaguars had impressive wins over The Bengals and the Steelers during the season, both playoff teams. Despite their formidable record, the Jaguars had to settle for second place in the AFC South due to the Indianapolis Colts torrid 13-0 start and final 14-2 record including two victories over the Jaguars.

The Jacksonville Jaguars earned a Wild Card playoff spot after the 2005 season, their first playoff birth in five seasons. The Jaguars had to travel to New England and play the defending Super Bowl Champion Patriots in the Wild Card Playoff game. The Jaguars were over whelmed by the Patriots and suffered a disappointing 28-3 loss.

Despite the disappointing end to the 2005 season, the Jacksonville Jaguars are a team on the way up. Many experts believe the Jaguars have a great chance at reaching not only the NFL Playoffs in 2006 but the 2007 Super Bowl. The Jaguars fans are believers as well, they have been buying 2006 Jacksonville Jaguar tickets by the barrels ever since they went on sale.
