Rod Stewart Information Rod Stewart was born to Elsie and Robert Stewart (both from Scotland) in London, England on January 10, 1945. When he turned 11, he started playing the guitar. After finishing his schooling, he started his professional music career with Wizz Jones as a street singer through out Europe. In 1962, Rod helped form The Ray Davis Quartet. However, the other members soon dropped him. During 1963 to 1969, he was the lead vocalist with several different bands; almost one for each year. A few singles were released, however, none made it into the charts. The last band that he sang with, the John Beck Group released two hit albums, before breaking up in 1969. In 1969, Rod Stewart joined a new band called The Faces. At the same time, he decided to start a solo career with Mercury Records. His first solo album, An Old Raincoat Wont Ever Let You Down, was released that same year. It became a hit. The Faces released their first album, First Step in 1970. Rods solo style was very different from The Faces. As a result, he became more popular than the band. His third solo album, Every Picture Tells a Story, made him a star. While Rod was with The Faces, he released five solo studio albums and they only released four. The increasing friction caused by Rod Stewarts growing popularity resulted in the breakup of The Faces in 1975. After the breakup, Rod Stewart decided to continue his solo career. He moved to the U. S. and switched to Warner Bros. Records. His first album with them, Atlantic Crossing was a top ten hit. He was now a superstar. In 1994, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He has been married three times, been in four relationships, and has seven children (in and out of wedlock). Blondes Have More Fun, released in 1978, was his last number one hit album in the United States for the next 25 years. With the release of Stardust: the Great American Songbook 3, his 22nd studio album, he had his next number one hit. He won the 2005 Grammy Award Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for it. Rod Stewart will perform twice in Hollywood, FL, before heading to New Zealand and Australia. So, get your Rod Stewart tickets now!
