    Eddie Izzard is a two time Emmy award winning comedian/actor. He uses pantomime and witty monologues in his act. He was born Edward John Izzard to Harold and Dorothy Izzard on February 7, 1962 in Aden, Yemen. In 1963 the family returned to England, where in 1968 his mother died of cancer. Young Eddie found comfort in comedy. So, he decided to become a comedian. While pursuing a degree in accounting at the University of Sheffield, he took up stand-up comedy. This action earned him a dismissal from the University; he became a street comedian. After several years of street performances in Europe and the US, he started working in the stand-up venues of Great Britain.

    Eddie Izzard won two British Comedy Awards; one in 1993 for "Live at the Ambassadors" and one in 1996 for "Definite Article". His US breakthrough came in 1999 when HBO aired his "Dress to Kill". He won two Emmys for it. In January 2006, he started starring in the FX TV drama "The Riches". Eddie has starred in several comedy plays; one on Broadway in 2003, "A Day in the Death of Joe Egg". He is a very talented mimic and mime, reads from Wikipedia during his act, and is a cross-dresser. However, he is not a homosexual. He is now on the final part of his "Stripped" tour here in the US.
