If youre looking for offensive firepower you need look no farther than Indianapolis Colts tickets. Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison, and Reggie Wayne are enough for any team to win in the NFL. Bit with the loss of Edgerrin James to Arizona, the Colts knew they needed a blockbuster running back to keep opposing defenses honest. They landed a winner in LSU running back Joseph Addai. Addai is a dual threat out of the backfield with better speed than James and better hands. The Colts also stole veteran placekicker Adam Vinatieri away from the Patriots, not only improving their own kicking game but putting the hurt on their arch enemy in the process. With only minor changes, head coach Tony Dungy has made Indianapolis Colts tickets even hotter.

A brief history of the Indianapolis Colts

The Baltimore Colts joined the NFL in 1953. They were owned by Carroll Rosenbloom, their first head coach was Keith Molesworth. The Colts played their home games at old Memorial Stadium in Baltimore from 1953-1983.

Weeb Ewbank took over the coaching duties for the Baltimore Colts in 1954 and after 4 seasons of mediocrity, Ewbank and QB Johnny Unitas led the Baltimore Colts to their first NFL Championship. The Baltimore Colts won the NFL Championship in 1958 and again in 1959, both times they defeated the New York Giants in the Championship game. The 1958 game is considered by some as the greatest game ever played as the Colts rallied late to tie the game and then won it in overtime, 23-17.

Don Shula became the Baltimore Colts third head coach in 1963. Shula led the Colts to playoff losses in both 1964 and 1965. In 1968, the Colts had one of the best teams of all times. They finished the regular season with a 13-1 record. They breezed through the playoffs by beating the Vikings and then the Cleveland Browns in the NFL Championship game 34-0. The Colts were a huge favorite to beat the AFL's New York Jets in Super Bowl III. The Jets, behind the Colts old Coach Weeb Ewbank and a brash QB named Joe Nameth, stunned the Colts by beating them 16-7 in probably the lowest point in Colt history.

The Baltimore Colts failed the make the playoffs the following season and Don Shula was replaced by Don McCafferty. McCafferty led the Colts back to the Super Bowl in 1970 and this time the Colts were victorious, this time defeating the Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowl V.

In 1972, Rosenbloom traded his Colts to Robert Irsay for his franchise, the Los Angeles Rams. Only the owners changed, the players and teams remained intact in both cities. The Baltimore Colts had won three division titles in the 1970s but failed to win a single playoff game during the decade. By early 1984, Irsay was threatening a move from Baltimore if the city did not promise to help pay for a new stadium. Irsay made well on his threat in March of 1984 when the Colts franchised packed up their belongings and headed to Indianapolis during the middle of the night.

The Indianapolis Colts began playing their home games in the Hoosier Dome (RCA Dome) in 1984 but the team continued to struggle making only one playoff appearance from 1984-1994. In 1995, Coach Ted Marchibroda led the Colts to the playoffs and their first playoff win in almost three decades. The Colts beat the Chargers in the Wild card round, then the Chiefs in the divisional round before loosing to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship game.

The Colts returned to the playoffs in 1996 but lost in the first round to the Pittsburgh Steelers again. The Colts hired Jim Mora to be their head coach in 1998 and he led the Colts to two playoff trips in 1999 and 2000. Both instances resulted in first round losses. Tony Dungy was hired in 2002 and he has led the Indianapolis Colts to the playoffs four straight seasons from 2002 - 2005.

The Indianapolis Colts began the 2005 season with a 13-0 start before finally finishing the season with a franchise high, 14 - 2 record. The Colts entered the 2005 playoffs as a heavy favorite to win the Super Bowl. The Colts season was spoiled in the first round when the Pittsburgh Steelers came into the RCA Dome and beat and upset the Colts 21-18.

Despite the disappointing end to the 2005 season, 2006 Indianapolis Colt tickets are selling out all over town with anticipation that the Colts will bring home another NFL Championship.
