What better way to support this great up and coming team then with a pair of amazing Wizards Tickets from FrontRowUSA!

The Washington Wizards have changed names and locations several times in their history, but they have never changed the quality of basketball that fans have grown to love. The Wizards started off as the Chicago Packers in 1961 and then moved to Baltimore. They spent several seasons here before moving on to Washington. It was here where they won their first, and to date, only Championship Title in 1977-78.

They spent nearly two decades as the Washington Bullets since their last showing in the finals before changing their name to the Washington Wizards in 1997. Sporting a new name and a new logo the wizards were out to prove that they mean business.

This 2005-06 season they have some ground to make up if they hope to be finalists, but they are still an amazing team to witness live. Order your Wizards tickets today and get into the action! FrontRowUSA can place you into prime seats for their next game, so what are you waiting for? Get out and support the team!

A brief history of the Washington Wizards

The Washington Wizards are a National Basketball Association Team based out of Washington, D.C. The Wizards are currently a member of the Southeast Division in the Eastern Conference and are owned by Abe Pollin. Eddie Jordan is the current coach of the Wizards and they play their home games at the Verizon Center in downtown Washington, D.C. The Verizon Center was opened in 1997 and is also home to the Washington Mystics of the WNBA and the Washington Capitols of the NHL. The Verizon Center currently seats over 20,000 Basketball fans.

The Washington Wizards franchise has been in the NBA since 1962. They have called 3 different cities home and have used 4 different nicknames. They have won 1 NBA Championship in 23 playoff appearances.

The Washington Wizards franchise joined the NBA in 1961 as the Chicago Packers. The following season, they changed their name to the Chicago Zephyrs. Neither name improved the teams performance as they won just 43 games in 2 seasons. In 1962 the franchise moved to Baltimore and became known as the Baltimore Bullets. The Franchise remained in Baltimore for 10 seasons and made 8 playoff appearances during this time frame. The Bullets advanced to the 1971 NBA Finals with Gene Shue as the coach and star players like Earl Monroe, Wes Unseld and Gus Johnson. The Bullets lost the 1971 NBA Finals to a dominant Milwaukee Bucks team. Just 2 seasons removed from an NBA Finals appearance, the Bullets moved to Landover, Maryland and changed their name to the Capital Bullets. The Capital Bullets name lasted only 1 season. The Bullets changed their name again in 1974 becoming known as the Washington Bullets. Through all the moves and name changes, the Bullets were one of the most dominant teams during the 1970s. They reached the NBA Finals again in1975 but lost to the Golden State Warriors. The Bullets won their only NBA Championship in 1978 when they beat the Seattle Supersonics in 7 games. The 1978 Bullets were led by Coach Dick Motta and star players Elvin Hayes, Wes Unseld and Bob Dandridge. The Bullets returned to the NBA Finals in1979 but lost a rematch to the Supersonics.

The Bullets remained a playoff contending team throughout most of the 1980s making 7 playoff appearances during the decade. The Bullets hid a skid beginning in 1989 that saw the franchise miss the playoffs 15 times over the next 16 seasons. The Bullets lone playoff appearance during this time came in 1997. The 1997 season was the final year the franchise used the nickname Bullets. Because the nickname had obvious violent overtones, the franchise changed their nickname to the Wizards. The new nickname failed to produce immediate results. Despite the presence of legendary player Michael Jordan who suited up for the Wizards in 2001 and again in 2002, the Wizards continued to struggle. Ticket sales home and away were astronomical as fans lined up to see if Michael Jordan still had some magic left in his tank. He did, just not enough to get the Wizards into the post season.

The Washington Wizards are coming off back to back playoff seasons in 2005 and again in 2006. Coach Eddie Jordan has led a young team to the fringe of a dynsasty. Superstar players like Gilbert Arenas and Antawn Jamison have teamed up with role players like Caron Butler and Antonio Daniels to make the Wizards one of the best young teams in the NBA. Wizards fans in the D.C. area expect to see this team go deep into the NBA playoffs come next spring.
