Trans-Siberian Orchestra Information The Trans-Siberian Orchestra, or TSO, was formed by two composers (Robert Kinkel and Paul O'Neill) and the then lead vocalist of the hard rock band "Savatage" (Jon Oliva), who is now a composer with TSO, in 1996. They chose their name from the Russian railroad that crosses Siberia. The Trans-Siberian Orchestra is a rock orchestra that mainly performs Christmas carols in a rock opera format. In discussing the purpose behind forming the TSO, Paul O'Neill states on the TSO website, "It's about creating great art." For their studio albums the TSO uses a 60 piece full orchestra and choir. However, when on tour they use 2 narrators, 14 vocalists, and a 14 piece mini orchestra. Their most popular, and first released album in 1996, is "Christmas Eve and Other Stories". The orchestra now has released a total of three Christmas albums and one non-Christmas album. They are now working on their second non-Christmas album, to be released in 2008. TSO played the music for the film "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas". Their current tour ends on January 6, 2008. Trans-Siberian Orchestra tickets will soon be gone. Get them today.
