Back in the early 1970s 14-year-old Larry Mullen put out a notice in his Dublin Ireland School seeking band members. He ended up recruiting Paul Hewson, Adam Clayton, Dave Evans and Dik Evans. Dik later found the band to be too amateurish and left shortly after it began. Starting off being known as Feedback, they changed their name to The Hype after winning a school talent show in 1976.
