Eagles Information

    The Eagles became an independent band in 1971 in Los Angeles, California. They started off a country-rock band and later moved more into hard rock. They have won four Grammys and have had four number one hit albums. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. The Eagles received their start in 1970, when Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner were chosen as a backing band for Linda Ronstadt. They toured with her two months and played on her 1970 album "Silk Purse". With her approval, they formed their own band in 1971, choosing the name "Eagles" as a tribute to "The Byrds". The Eagles released their first album in 1972 "Eagles". It had three top 40 hits. The Eagles were a success!

    For their third album, "On the Border", released in 1974, the Eagles moved more into hard rock than country. Don Felder was asked to join the band because of his exquisite guitar playing. Their first number one hit song, "Best of My Love", was from that album. They would go on to have five number one hit songs. In 1975, Leadon left the band because he disagreed with the direction the Eagles were going. He was replaced with Joe Walsh. Their best selling album, "Hotel California", was released in 1976. After the Eagles 1977 tour for the album, Meisner left the band and was replaced by Timothy B. Schmit.

    After releasing their sixth album in 1979, "The Long Run", the Eagles broke up in August of 1980 due to severe personality conflicts amongst the members. Fourteen years later "The Long Run" Eagles were asked to reunite. They did and released "Hell Freezes Over" in 1994. It went to number one on the charts. In 2001, Felder was fired from the Eagles. He then sued Frey and Henley. Frey and Henley countersued Felder; the case was finally settled out of court in 2007. In October 2007, the current Eagles, Glenn Frey (vocals/guitar/keyboards), Don Henley (vocals/drums), Timothy B. Schmit (vocals/bass), and Joe Walsh (vocals/guitar/keyboards), released "Long Road Out of Eden". The first album composed of entirely new songs since 1979. It hit number one on the charts.
