Rascal Flatts is a highly acclaimed and award winning country music band. Gary LeVox (lead vocalist), Jay DeMarcus (bass guitarist, pianist, drummer, and backup vocals), and Joe Don Rooney (guitarist and backup vocals) formed the band in Nashville, TN in 2000. Gary and Jay are second cousins who come from a musical family in Ohio. Jay started his professional music career after high school; playing with various Christian music bands. While playing with Chely Wright's band, he met Joe Don. In 1997, Jay persuaded his cousin Gary to come to Nashville and perform with him. They started playing in the local nightclubs. One night in 2000, their guitarist could not make the gig, so Jay called Joe Don to see if he could fill in. The three discovered they really had something special together; and the Rascal Flatts was born.

Shortly after their formation, Lyric Street Records discovered them. Rascal Flatts then released their first album in 2000 "Rascal Flatts". It rose to number 3 on the country charts. Their second album, "Melt", went to number 1, and the group's superstar status begun. Their next three albums, including their 2007 release "Still Feels Good", hit number 1 on both the country and pop charts. The group won the Grammy Award "Best Country Song" for "Bless the Broken Road" in 2006. They have been the "Vocal Group of the Year" at the Country Music Awards each year since 2003. On October 16, 2007, Rascal Flatts started their current tour in support of "Still Feels Good". They will take a break after November. However, they will resume the tour on January 17, 2008, with the tour ending in September 2008.
