Linkin Park Information Linkin Park is a nu metal/alternative rock band from Agoura Hills, Ca. It was formed by three high school buddies (Rob Bourdon, Brad Delson, and Mike Shinoda) in 1996 under the name Xero. They recruited Dave Farrell, Joe Hahn, and Mark Wakefield (as vocalist) to fill out the band. The group then began playing and recording demos in Shinodas home. Disgusted with the bands inability to obtain a recording contract, Wakefield left in 1998, and Farrell left in 1999. Early in 1999, the band signed on Chester Bennington as lead vocalist upon the recommendation of Zomba records executive Jeff Blue. The band then changed their name to Hybrid Theory. After Bennington and Shinoda realized they worked well together, the band was inspired; writing and singing new songs. They again changed their name, this time to Linkin Park (for Lincoln Park in nearby Santa Monica, Ca). They again sought the help of Jeff Blue, who now worked for Warner Bros. Records. In late 1999, they received their first recording contract from them. Linkin Parks first album, Hybrid Theory, was released in 2000. It was a major hit with metal fans everywhere. They won two Grammy Awards for it in 2002, Best Hard Rock Performance and Best Rock Album. Farrell rejoined the band in 2001. Their second album, Meteora, released in 2003 was a number one hit. From 2004 to 2006, the band was on tour. In 2007, their third album, Minutes to Midnight, was also a number one hit. This album has fewer raps and more singing in it. Current band members are: Chester Bennington (lead vocalist), Rob Bourdon (drummer), Brad Delson (lead guitar), Dave Farrell (bass guitar), Joe Hahn (turntables), and Mike Shinoda (MC/rhythm guitar/vocals). The band starts their 2008 tour on February 12, 2008. So, get your Linkin Park tickets today before they are all gone.
