    Crüe Fest is a tour of heavy metal bands arranged by Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe, featuring Mötley Crüe and his other band Sixx:AM. It has been named "The Loudest Show on Earth". It is similar to Ozzy Osbourne's Ozzfest. The Crüe Fest will begin on July 1, 2008.

    Mötley Crüe was formed by Nikki Sixx (bass guitar) and Tommy Lee (drums) in Los Angeles, California in 1981. Mick Mars (lead guitar) and Vince Neil (vocals) soon joined them. They are an American heavy metal band. All four band members have been noted for their heavy alcohol/drug use, jail time, and for being womanizers; since the inception of the band. They released their first album, "Too Fast for Love" in 1981 on their own label, Leathür Records. It had poor sales. In 1982, they obtained a recording contract with Elektra Records, who re-released their first album for their Canadian tour, during which they received adverse international press, due to their behavior. The band also became heavily involved in alcohol and drugs.

    Mötley Crüe started to see success with the release of their second album, "Shout at the Devil" in 1983. Their drug and alcohol abuse began to strongly affect them and they all under went rehabilitation in 1989. After that, they reached their peak popularity with the release of their fifth album, "Dr. Feelgood", in 1989. It has been their only number one hit album to date. In 1992, Neil left the band (it is unsure whether he quit or had been fired). John Corali replaced him. In 1997, the original four band members reformed. Then in 1999, Lee left the band to go solo, being replaced by Randy Castillo. In 2000, Samantha Maloney replaced Castillo, who died of cancer in 2002. After their tour in 2000, the band broke up. In 2001, Mars went into seclusion due to his degenerative arthritis. That same year, Mötley Crüe's autobiography, "The Dirt", was published.

    Mötley Crüe had a second reunion in 2005. They also appeared in the animation spoof "Disaster!" In 2006, they toured with Aerosmith. A movie based upon their autobiography, "The Dirt", is due out in 2009. Their ninth studio album, "Saints of Los Angeles", is due out on June 17, 2008. The Crüe Fest begins on July 1, 2008.
