    Bruce Springsteen, "The Boss", was born in Long Branch, New Jersey on September 24, 1949. He has Dutch, Irish, and Italian ancestry. He is an extremely successful singer, guitarist, and a prolific songwriter. To date, he has recorded 16 albums, won 15 Grammys, 1 Oscar, and 1 Emmy Award. He has alternated the albums he recorded between somber folk music and contemporary rock. His iconic status is mainly due to his concert performances with his E Street Band.

    Bruce became interested in pursuing a musical career at the age of seven. When he was 13, he bought his first guitar for $18.00. In 1965, he started his professional music career, playing and singing with various bands until 1972. That year, Bruce signed a recording contract with Columbia Records. His first two albums received critical acclaim, however they were unsuccessful. His third album, "Born to Run", released on August 25, 1975, was a huge success.
