Bon Jovi Information Bon Jovi is an award winning hard rock band from New Jersey. Lead vocalist, Jon Bon Jovi started his musical career while still a young teenager. He formed two bands and played in several others. While working in a recording studio in 1982, he recorded several demos. One of these demos, "Runaway", started being played on radio stations nation wide in early 1983. In March of that year, he contacted his old high school friend and former band member David Bryan. They started a new band with Jon Bon Jovi as leading vocalist/rhythm guitar, David Bryan on keyboards/backup vocalist, Richie Sambora as lead guitarist/backup vocalist, Alec John Such as bass guitarist/backup vocalist, and Tico Torres as drummer/percussionist. Later that year they signed their first recording contract with Mercury Records and received the name "Bon Jovi" from them. Their first album, "Bon Jovi", was released in 1984. It quickly became a hit. However, their second album, "7800 Fahrenheit" was poorly received. Jon later admitted it could have been a lot better. Consequently, the band hired Desmond Child to co-write their songs. With his songwriting ability, their third album, "Slippery When Wet", was a huge success. They were now international superstars. Bon Jovi took a two-year break from 1990 1992. Upon reuniting in 1992, they released "Keep the Faith" in 1994. This album contained their hit single "Always". That year, Alec John Such left the band. Hugh McDonald took his place, however he did not become a band member. From 1996 1998, the band took another break. They reunited in 1999 to record "Real Life" for the movie "EdTV". In 2000, they released "Crush", another very big hit. In May of 2006, Bon Jovi became the first rock band to hit #1 on the country charts, with the single "Who Says You Can't Go Home". This was a duet performed with country music star Jennifer Nettles. It won Bon Jovi their only Grammy Award, "Best Country Collaboration with Vocals", in 2007. In June of this year, they released their tenth studio album "Lost Highway". It hit #1 on the pop charts upon its release. The last time this happened was in 1988 with their album "New Jersey". They are now commencing on their Lost Highway worldwide tour, which will start November 14, 2007 in Montreal, Qubec. Their American leg of the tour will start on February 18, 2008 in Omaha, Nebraska and end in Atlanta, Georgia on April 30, 2008. So, get your Bon Jovi tickets while you still can!
