Legally Blonde Information Legally Blonde is the new musical that started playing in San Francisco in January 2007 and premiered on Broadway in April 2007. The musical is loosely based on the book by Amanda Brown (2001) and the follow-on movie (2001) starring Reese Witherspoon as Elle Woods. It is a two-act play. In Act I, Elle Woods (Laura Bell Bundy) is dished by her boyfriend Warner Huntington III (Richard H. Blake); who is going to Harvard Law School, for being too frivolous. She decides to follow him to Harvard and become a lawyer herself, to win Warner back. The musical goes on to tell the story of Elles acceptance into Harvard Law School; her dealings with her law professors and with Warners new girlfriend, Vivienne Kensington (Kate Shindle). Warner rejects her once more. In Act II, the musical tells the story of Elles first trial as a legal intern for Professor Callahan (Michael Rupert) and her growing interest in Callahans trial assistant, Emmett Forrest (Christian Borle). They, along with Warner and Vivienne (also Callahans interns), are hired by Brooke Wyndham (Nikki Snelson) who is accused by her stepdaughter of murdering her wealthy husband. Callahan makes a pass at Elle, and then fires her when she rejects his advances. Brooke, an old friend of Elles from college, then fires Callahan and hires Elle to defend her. Elle, mentored by Emmett, convinces the jury that Brooke is innocent. Elle graduates from Harvard with top honors and is proposed to by Emmett. So, get your Legally Blonde tickets today!
